When Is the Best Time of Year for Golf in the Algarve?

The Algarve is a genuine year-round golf destination. Here is what each season is really like.

Spring: March to May

One of the two prime windows for golf in the Algarve, alongside the autumn. Courses are in excellent condition, temperatures sit comfortably in the low twenties and everything is green.

It is also one of the busiest periods, so larger groups should confirm dates early to secure consecutive tee times.

Autumn: September to early November

Every bit the equal of spring. October in particular is a favourite among returning groups.

Winter: November to February

Mild rather than warm — often 16 to 19 degrees and very comfortable to play in a light layer. Courses are noticeably quieter, which makes for a relaxed few days.

There is a chance of rain and the days are shorter, but for plenty of groups a winter break in the Algarve is one of the best times to come.

Summer: June to August

Hot, particularly inland and in the middle of the day. Early tee times are essential, and the afternoons are better spent by the water than on the back nine.

Good for groups travelling with families, less good for four rounds in four days.

Of course, this is the Algarve and these are typical conditions — the weather itself is the one part of your golf trip even we can't organise. Tell us your preferred window and group size and we will let you know how far ahead to book to secure it.
